Case Study 1: Assisting the largest global financial firm in "Improving Lives through Cost-effective Healthcare Delivery" in Semi-Urban and Rural India
Overview: The firm intended to survey private healthcare providers in Tier II cities and Rural India, to map the business environment, identify the need gaps in the supply and demand of quality healthcare and assess the growth potential of such providers.
Issue: The firm planned to engage a consulting firm to conduct a study and detail out the existing and upcoming private Healthcare facilities, to understand the supply side and health seeking patterns of the population, with income levels of below US$ 5 per day. A comprehensive qualitative and quantitative study, supply and demand assessment and short listing of potential private healthcare providers was expected to be conducted under the scope of the assignment.
Solutions: Technopak did detailed mapping of the healthcare sector covering private healthcare providers in Tier II cities and Rural India and performed following actions:
- • Analyzed approximately 500 hospitals, along with opinion from 800 Physicians and 1400 Patients and 30 hospitals for infusion of equity by the firm.
- • Outlined business opportunities and recommendations for the Government, Development Organizations, Entrepreneurs and Financial Institutions .
- • Profiled areas of strength, current capacity, services offered and regulatory issues for all healthcare providers.
This project is currently underway. We expect to assist them to reduce the cost of healthcare services in 30 hospitals and pass over quality healthcare services to patients in Semi-urban and Rural India. This project is likely to be extended to include another 6 cities in India, and also 4 other countries in South Asia (Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal)
Case Study 2: Feasibility Report for a Medical College and Hospital in Ranchi, Jharkhand
Overview: The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) has decided to start a medical college in Ranchi, Jharkhand, similar to St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore, run by the CBCI Society for Medical Education. This new initiative in Ranchi is envisaged to be a "Gyan Gram" (Village of Knowledge). It will have infra-structures for units like Hospital, Medical College, Centre for Training in Community Health, Nursing College, Para-Medical Training Institute, Medical Research Institute, Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Training and Research Institute for Indian System of Medicine, Hostel and recreational facilities and other ancillary units like Blood Bank, Yoga and Natural Health Resort, etc., together with initiatives such as a Higher Secondary School, etc.
Issue: Technopak was engaged to prepare a conceptual overall master plan for the Gyan Gram and a strategic plan for its phase wise implementation with a feasibility study report for 500 beds hospital (with the scope of expansion up to 1000 beds) cum medical college as per MCI guidelines for the phase I of the project and to assist CBCI in obtaining MCI approval for the Phase I project implementation, to identify prospective donors for funding the entire project and in identifying suitable human resources for implementation and operation of the entire project on long term basis.
