Retail in India is at a tipping point. With technology driving the shift to online channels, spurring greater adoption of online marketplace models, the sector witnessed rapid digitization and shift of even traditional brick and mortar players to the online space. Enter the pandemic and this seismic shift gets accelerated manifold.
In its latest spring, the sector, contributing 10% to GDP and 8% to employment as per FY 19-20 estimates, is set for a ‘take off’ of a convergence and coexistence – of traditional with the online channels (O+O).
